October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and it is a chance for everyone to join the movement to end domestic violence. Whether you’re an advocate, supporter, or loved one of someone who has experienced domestic violence, this is a time to develop a culture that refuses to tolerate abuse, and ensures the voices of victims are heard and uplifted.

Domestic Violence is found in every community, and affects people of all ages, socio-economic statuses, sexual orientations, genders, races, religions or nationalities. Physical violence is often accompanied by other forms of abuse, such as emotional or financial, and it is a part of a much larger, systematic pattern of dominance and control. The devastating consequences of domestic violence cross generations and last a lifetime. With a unified nation throughout the month of October, we will raise the collective awareness about domestic violence to end this abuse for good.
