July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month

The month of July is recognized as Minority Mental Health Awareness Month to help spread awareness regarding the unique struggles faced by racial and ethnic minority communities with mental illness. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, minority communities have had an increasingly difficult time accessing mental health resources to properly take care of themselves. Mental illness does not discriminate on the basis of your background or race. Racial and ethnic minority communities face unique struggles with mental health. Stigma, lack of access, and inadequate quality of care adversely impact mental health in diverse communities. We must raise awareness and continue to provide support to minority communities.
