Manavi Community Event (Sexual Assault Awareness Month)

The month of April is recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Sexual violence affects millions of people each year in our community and it can have lasting effects on victims ranging from short to long-term physical and mental health problems. Sexual abuse can be traumatic, which left untreated can lead to depression and other long-term health issues. Together we can make a difference to build inclusive, safe and respectful communities. We must take action to promote safety of others and show survivors they are believed and supported.

Manavi will be hosting a Community Awareness Event for SAAM. Please join us on Friday, April 29th followed by a musical and dance evening with popular artists including Abhik Mukherjee, Jay Gandhi, Vivek Pandya and Shivani Badgi. Our special thanks to Sarika Persaud(Guest Speaker for the event), Indian Consulate and Sneh Arts for their support. This is a free event and we look forward to seeing you in person and appreciate your ongoing support of Manavi.

We are grateful to our community and hope that we can continue to make a difference in survivors’ lives. These are challenging times and we need your help to ensure survivors of gender-based violence feel safe and supported. If someone you know faces sexual violence or abuse, please feel free to call on Manavi’s hotline number : 1(732) 435-1414.

Your support is pivotal to our work – we could not do this without you!
