Ever thought of volunteering for a good cause?
Manavi is a New Jersey based, non-profit organization for South Asian women, working on issues of violence against women. We provide services to women who have experienced violence in their lives as well as work in the community in an effort to bring about social change. Some of our programs include - individual advocacy/counseling, legal clinic and legal referrals, transitional housing, support group, outreach and education, fundraising and grantwriting. Both Manavi staff and volunteers contribute to the daily functioning of Manavi.

Some Manavi programs/activities that you can volunteer for are as follows:

  • Supportive Counseling/Advocacy
(Specific requirements must be met in order to become a counselor/ advocate)
  • Transitional Home
  • Transportation/Accompaniment
  • Childcare
  • Outreach/Community Events
  • Newsletter/Publications
  • Translation/Interpretation
  • Fundraising
  • Office Support
  • Technical Support/Help Desk

We require that everyone who is interested in becoming a Manavi volunteer attend an orientation program before they start volunteering. The orientation session is held twice a year and it gives participants an opportunity to learn about Manavi's philosophy and values, apart from giving them a detailed idea about Manavi programs.

We constantly invest our energies into maintaining and improving Manavi's volunteer program, in order for it to function effectively. Towards the same end, we expect a level of commitment from our volunteers as well. Because we believe in building relationships with our volunteers, we expect at least a six-month commitment from them.

We hope that volunteering with Manavi will be a fulfilling and enriching experience for you!
